Ниже приводится текст приглашения и условия участия

Greetings IFP members,

We, the Computer Poker Research Group (CPRG) at the University of Alberta, are looking for strong poker players to play against a state-of-the-art heads-up no-limit Texas hold'em agent. After our success with solving limit hold'em, we have new research ideas for handling the increased complexities of no-limit poker. Our new agent is built using these new techniques, and we believe it is strong enough that the proper scientific evaluation should include a comparison to human expert play.

We hope you are one of those human experts.

To be eligible to participate in this study you must be:

  • Of the age of majority in your country of residence
  • A professional poker player
  • Willing to be identified in an associated research article

Please note that although we hope to have international participation in this study, the study will be conducted in English and a practical understanding of written English will be necessary to participate.

After registration for the study closes (see below), we will determine the number of hands we hope to collect from each participant based on the number of interested participants. We expect that you will be asked to play:

  • between 3000 to 4000 hands of heads-up no-limit Texas hold'em,
  • distributed as you choose over 4 weeks (from when we send you account credentials),
  • taking an estimated 20 to 27 hours to complete (assuming a rate of 150 hands per hour).

There is no monetary cost or entry fee required to participate in this study, and the top three participants that complete the allotted hands within their four week window will share a monetary prize pool totalling $8750 (CAD).  All reported results – including individual performance analyses and the final rankings used to allot prizes – will use variance reduction techniques to decrease the effects of lucky / unlucky cards, rather than directly using chips won.

Complete details about our study are available in the attached information letter or available online (https://goo.gl/KQr5tl).

Due to restricted computational resources, there are limited spaces available to participate in the study.  Priority will be given to early registrants, and we are aiming to begin matches at the start of November 2016.  To volunteer to play against our agent, please review and complete the registration form (https://goo.gl/forms/4eCA92RfKkZmv47g2), preferably before October 31, 2016.

For more information about the Computer Poker Research Group, including its members and our prior publications, please see our website (poker.cs.ualberta.ca).

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this study, please do not hesitate to contact Nolan Bard (nbard@ualberta.ca).

We look forward to your participation,
The Computer Poker Research Group
